SESSION I: June 24 - July 6
SESSION II: July 8 - 20
SESSION III: July 22 - August 3

Upside Arts Day Camp (open to ages 7-17) provides a unique summer experience with original shows written specifically for the campers! Students work together to build confidence, creativity, and develop skills needed to perform on stage, while rehearsing for a fully staged production.

Upside Arts Day Camp offers an immersive, thoughtful and one of a kind theatrical experience which focuses on teamwork and the creative process. Through each two week session, campers have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively together and with our staff on an original musical. Every camper plays a character written specifically to showcase their unique and special talents.

Our playwrights for summer 2024 are Miles Burns, Joshua Goldberg, and Nick Tavares. Burns and Goldberg have worked with countless young performers over the years creating new plays and musicals for kids. Between them, they have written and premiered nearly 40 original works for seacoast area kids throughout the last decade. Tavares is a former Upside Arts student studying theatre education at UNH.

Session I
Babe & Bunyan's Big Adventure

June 24 - July 6 (no camp July 4)

Two Performances July 6

A New Musical by Miles Burns

This here is the larger than life story of the legendary folk sidekick, Babe the Big Blue Ox. Being born an oversized blue ox, you can imagine that Babe had a pretty hard time fitting in- that is until he met Paul Bunyan, the mighty lumberjack. Together they cleared forests faster than anyone, and there wasn’t a tangled river they couldn’t straighten out. Some say they even made the 10,000 lakes. It’s going to be a mighty tall tale, and an awfully big adventure!

Session II
once Upon A Stone Age

July 8 - 20

Two Performances July 20

A New Musical by Joshua Goldberg

Once upon a Stone Age, a long long long loooooooooong time ago, back before phones and bicycles and automobiles and arithmetic, back when we used stones for tools and lived in caves and fire was a luxury, back at the dawn of humanity… that’s where our story begins. Once upon a Stone Age there was the sky, and the earth, and that big hot thing in the sky, and two good friends named Gork and Ogg, and… a time machine?

Session III
Flushed!

July 22 - August 3

Two Performances August 3

An Original Musical by Nick Tavares

Oftentimes we celebrate the things we can do, but what about the things we can’t do? Fred is the new kid in a new school, filled with the nastiest 7th graders that Los Angeles has to offer. Like any sad and alone middle schooler, Fred seeks refuge in the bathroom, only to discover that one of the toilets has quite a unique quirk… and when he finds himself in the Kingdom of Vapoo, Fred has to embrace everything he can – and can’t – do to save the day.
